HELP on search

last update: 07-Sep-2000

simple search

Enter the keyword you are looking information for into the text box and klick the OK button (or hit enter) and you'll get a list of files that contain your keyword anywhere in the text.

advanced search

Enter more than one keyword into the text field. Separate your keywords with only one space (see also: bugs)
Select whether you want to find all files that contain either all or any of these keywords with the dropdown box.
When you are done, again press enter or klick the OK button to transmit your query and you'll get a list of files that either have all or one of the keywords in the text.

general information

The search is case insensitive, that is, a search for yendor will also find YENDOR, but not RODNEY :)

You can't look for phrases with this search utility, so if you enter scroll of ESP and select all in the dropdown box, you will get a list of files, but none of them contains this scroll (because it does not exist). The reason is that all these files contain these three words individually.

Also, if you enter wizard of yendor and select any from the dropdown box, you'll get a list of files with wizard, of, or yendor contained. That is most likely not what you were looking for.

bugs

Don't enter more than one space between search keywords and don't enter spaces in front / at the end of a keyword, or you'll get many warning lines like this:

Warning: Empty delimiter in /www/nethack.de/search.phtml on line 74

I hope that this problem will be removed soon.
