This page holds some programs with which you can enhance your enjoyment of nethack. There are tile editors, a bones file alarm, and maybe something more. These programs are all designed for DOS/Windows and the required system is mentioned. Feel free to mail me more.

NH_Alert V.2 (Windows 95+)
The new version works with SLASH'EM since E4 (Dec 16 1998), where bones files get other names.
This is a program that plays a sound when you enter a bones level or when you leave one after dying. It works under Windows (98 for sure, maybe 95, 3.x and NT too). VB4 Source code included.

FontEdit 1.0 (MS-DOS)
This is a utility by "Ziff Communications Co. / PC Magazine / Michael J. Mefford". With this utility you can change your character set to look completely different. For example, alter the ! with something that looks like a bottle.
Use this if you think ascii is boring and tiles are too small.

MK_BONES This is a program that reads the "temporarily" bones file that is created under Win95 instead of the real bones file and renames it to the proper file name.
This is only needed when you find files named "name_99.bn" in your nethack-directory. I recommend you to use a batch file that first starts nethack and then MK_BONES.

SafeHack A really nice Nethack starter with wich you can specify many parameters without changing your CNF-file. Works under DOS with 512 kB free memory.

TileScan A Tile Editor that works under Windows (95 sure, 3.1 eventually). It is a Visual Basic Program, so it needs VBRUN300.DLL . Source code included.
This needs the installation of the above TileEdit.
